Harvest Festival 2017
Our new CT District Superintendent, the Reverend Alpher Sylvester, was our guest speaker at our 27th Annual Harvest Festival. We have great turnout with visitors various churches, great music and a dynamic sermon presented by Rev. Sylvester that related to our theme for the year, "The Fruit of the Spirit".

Oldies But Goodies Night
Our first Oldies but Goodies Night was a HUGE success with a night full of 50's, 60's and 70's music, dancing, food and for some, probably a lot of Bengay!

Operation Christmas Child 2016

26th Annual Harvest Festival 2016
"Increase the Harvest of Your Righteousness" was the theme of our 26th Annual Harvest Festival on September 18, 2016. The service was filled with music, readings and dance as well as a powerful message delivered by Rev. Dr. John W. Walker of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in New Britain, CT. Thank you to all of our participants in the service, the Harvest Festival Committee for planning the service and dinner afterwards, and all of our friends and visitors who came to worship with us that evening.

African Evening 2016
Our 2nd Annual African Evening was a huge success. The evening was filled with music, dancing, food, African outfits, drumming and presentations. Thank you to all who were involved.

Christmas Season 2015
BUMC's Christmas Season was filled with singing, acting, fellowship and so much more. The Sunday School presented it's pageant "A Super Christmas" on Christmas Sunday. That Sunday also included the Bell Choir and the BUMC Terrific Children & Youth Choir. We also held our annual Christmas Eve and Watch Night Service. Thank you to our Advent Candle readers and all those who participated in the services leading up to the new year.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is an organization that distributes gift-packed shoeboxes to underprivileged children globally. It is  an annual Outreach ministry for the church and this year we made 49 shoeboxes! Thank you to those who made this ministry such a success and to Yvonne Halliday for organizing and delivering the shoeboxes.


Pastor's Appreciation Sunday
Rev. Esau A. Greene joined the BUMC family in June of 2014 and our congregation took time to appreciate his hard work at our church throughout the last year and a half. The service included the BUMC Mixed Choir, a liturgical dance by Ashaundra Hutchinson of Bethel AME Church, a song and prayer by the children, a powerful sermon titled "The Word" given by Rev. Bolivar Valentine, a solo by Sis. Bea Brown and words and gifts of appreciation by church members. BUMC truly appreciates Rev. Greene and his family and the blessing they have been to our church. We pray that God will continue to order your steps and give you the wisdom and vision to move our church forward.

Farewell to Abby Ilumoka and Hyacinth Jennings
In the months of September and October, two of BUMC's hardworking and longtime members have relocated. Abby Ilumoka has taken a new job in Washington D.C. and Hyacinth Jennings will be relocating to Texas to live with her daughter. They will both be missed dearly but we wish them God's blessings as they move into a new journey in their lives.

25th Annual Harvest Festival
On Sunday, September 20th, BUMC celebrated our annual Harvest Festival. Our guest preacher was Father Emmanuel Ihemedu of St. Justin's Catholic Church in Hartord who spoke on "Filling the Famine of our Lives with Fullness and Joy". It was a great afternoon enjoyed by all. Thank you to all those who participated in the service and helped with the Harvest dinner.

Vacation Bible School 2015
The youth in our church had their Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 27th through Friday, July 31st from 6-8pm each evening. The theme this year was the Armor of God. They learned about the pieces of spiritual armor given to Christians by God to help protect ourselves in battle against Satan. Each day focused on a piece of armor, a craft creating that armor and a game based on the use of that armor. On Sunday, August 2nd, the kids presented what they learned to the congregation. Thank you to everyone who came to help out, the parents and guardians for bringing your kids and especially the kids for making the week an awesome experience for all involved! Revival Services 2015
The theme for our annual revival services was "Stopping By the Potter's House". We were blessed with the Word from two awesome preachers, Rev. Dr. Alvan N. Johnson Jr. and Rev. Bolivar Valentine. Thank you all who came out to get your souls revived!

Acolyte Sunday
The acolytes of BUMC were joined by other acolytes from Bethel A.M.E and St. Martin's Episcopal Church to take part in a celebration of their service to their churches. Special music was provided by the Palmer sisters, Katana Tate and Brianna, Jadyn and Divonne on their instruments. Thank you for lighting the path

Honoring Our Elders
On Father's Day, the men of the church led the service for their annual Men's Sunday. The Men's Choir provided the music for the service by singing "Lift Him Up" and "Leave It There". They also honored those members of the church 90 - 99 years. Dorothy Wilson, Jackie Watson, Lorenzo Nathan and Isaiah DaCosta.

African Evening
On May 23rd, BUMC hosted it's first annual African Evening. The evening was filled with African fashion, food and entertainment. The African Evening Committee would like to thank all who supported our event and our sponsors: Kim Jones, Mr. John Ackeife, Jenifer Miller, Wendell & Valda Lawrence, Sydney & Lucy Halsall, Dr. Roy Kellerman, Mr. Clarence Tuning, Michael & Billie Anthony, Dr. Atta Mensah, Mr. Amadesun, The Rainbow Food Market and Black Social Workers Association.

Maundy Thursday Service 2015
Maundy Thursday Service took place on April 2nd. The service included dinner, singing of hymns, communion and washing of feet.

The youth of our church to read information about various people, places and events that played a part in Connecticut's black history. Bloomfield United Community Food Kitchen
Certificates of Appreciation
During the Sunday morning service on January 18th, Lorenzo Ricketts and Mike Swan presented volunteers of the Bloomfield United Community Food Kitchen with certificates of appreciation for their hard work. To date the Food Kitchen has served over 25,000 meals! Certificates were given to: Robert Brown, Gail Dixon, Mr. & Mrs. Goffe, Soleh Greene, Yvonne Halliday, Valda Lawrence, Mike Swan, and Joan Wilson.

Confirmation of New Members
On December 28th, Bloomfield United Methodist Church welcomed four new members. Idel Williams, Edna & Robert Demery and Billie Tarry. Welcome to the BUMC family!!

Christmas Pageant
The Youth of BUMC presented their annual Christmas Pageant "Room for Christ" (written by Billie Anthony, one of our members) during the Christmas Sunday morning service. They did a great job!

Rev. Green's Celebration of Appointment
On December 14th, Bloomfield United Methodist Church officially celebrated the appointment of Rev. Esau Greene to our church. 

Operation Christmas Child
Members of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church made gift shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, an organization that distributes gift-packed shoeboxes to underprivileged children globally. We were able to make over 40 shoeboxes that were blessed by Rev. Greene during the November 23rd morning service. Learn more about Operation Christmas Child here.

Bloomfield Community Food Kitchen Thanksgiving Dinner
The Bloomfield Community Food Kitchen hosted their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 11:30am - 2:00pm. We served over 200 dinners! There were many volunteers from the community and from the church including the Young Adults Group of BUMC. The food that was left over was brought to South Park Inn, a homeless shelter in Hartford. It was a great day enjoyed and appreciated by all in attendance. 

Honoring Our Veterans
On Sunday, November 9th, we used a portion of our service to honor the veterans at Bloomfield United Methodist Church by recognizing their accomplishments and a musical tribute by Jadyn & Brianna Valentine and Divonne & Jivonne Feliciano. Lorenzo Nathan, Leroy Clemons and Mike Swan all served our country through the Army and Navy. Thank you for your service!

30th Annual Crop Walk for Hunger
On October 19th, the Older Youth/Young Adults Covenant Group and Joan Wilson took part in the 30th Annual Crop Walk for Hunger. Thank you to the church family and friends who sponsored our walk to end hunger one step at a time.

50th Anniversary Celebration Banquet
Bloomfield United Methodist Church celebrated its 50th Anniversary at it's current site on School Street at the Hartford Hilton on September 27, 2014. Our honorees were: Hyacinth Jennings, Rev. Dr. Hugh Hamilton, Saleena Holder, Lorenzo Ricketts and Mike Swan.
